Some main characteristics:
• She acts in a responsible manner when it comes to remembering stuff and being careful: When mommy leaves the house without her purse, Lana reminds her to bring “mommy bag”. She checks her lunch box to make sure her sippy cup is there.
Before leaving her class in the evening, she makes sure mommy took the lunch box back. And if she had brought a toy from home with her, she wants to double check that it is in her bag. If not, she insists on getting it before they “close” the class, and she tells mommy where she last saw it “Maureen put it in her pocket”.
When she sees a car from far, she says watch out, gets away from it and asks mommy to stay away as well. Once she thought daddy is coming in the garage. She saw mommy walking in the garage, she told her to stay away because daddy is coming with the car.
• She not only wants to select her clothes. But often changes her mind about the shirt. Now she wants a shirt with long sleeves, to avoid mosquito bites. And pants with pockets to put her cell phone, and hide her titina. • She loves cutting stuff: paper, flowers, clothes. She cuts shapes and says: this is a fish, this is a whale, this is a shoe.
• She loves watering plants and playing with water.
• She learned to play the pretend game. She pretends she is cooking pizza for mommy. She tells mommy “pizza for you. Apple for you, …” and gives her imaginary stuff. She also blows imaginary bubbles.
• Dora is her favorite character. All shoes, clothes, socks, sippy cups, plates, .. have Dora on them.
• In the mornings, she drags the kitchen chair, climbs on it and gets stuff from the upper cabinets. • She finally said the magic word: “ I hungry. I want food”. She is eating better than before.
• She has a great memory of objects and events. She found a table cover that mommy used last year to put play doe on. As soon as she saw it, she pulled it and said “I no see play doe”.
• She was invited to a pool party, so mommy pulled her last year’s swim suit. As soon as Lana saw it, she said “my swim suit! I need pull-ups from outside”. Yes indeed, last year, she wore swimming pull-ups under her swimsuit, and they were stored in the outside bathroom. Some stories from the past 6 months:
• She was dragging her small table, and it fell. She asked mommy for help. Mommy told her “lift the table yourself. You can do it”. Lana replied “No, I can’t do it. I small, look, I small. You big mama, you can do it”.
• Lana and mommy reading a book about a bear who found his baby. Mommy asked Lana: “Are you my baby?” “No! Charlie is a baby” “What are you then?” “I am Lanoussi. Mommy and daddy love you so much” --> retrieved from a song that mommy sings to Lana at bed time.
• Mommy threw an object on the couch. Lana saw that and said “No throw. If you throw like that, you go to the back corner”. Mommy agreed with Lana, but Lana insisted that mommy goes to the corner. Mommy had to spend 5 mins in the corner, not even allowed to lean towards the couch.
