Month 29: Aygust 23rd 2011

Lana celebrated her birthday on Sunday August 21st, in Gymboree Play & Music.
Her daycare friends Joaquin, Claire, Claritta and Anna (Clara’s sister) joined her.
In addition to her Lebanese friends Joelle, Paul, Katrina and Anthony.

They had two hours of fun. The birthday’s theme was Dora, Lana’s favorite character (in addition to Elmo, and lately Diego).

Lana started her first Spanish course yesterday. She learned the color “rojo”.

Yesterday, mommy was trying to put Lana’s big sippy cup in the car seat cup holder. The cup was too big to fit, but mommy was still trying. Lana told her: “No goes here, big!”.

She entered the phase of asking questions about what everything is. Wherever she goes, she points to things and asks “whas zat?” (what’s that). And then she repeats the answer after us.

Lana is making longer sentences now with all the te3rib, like:
- “I want a wipe pease” (please). Yeah, she is learning to be polite as well :)
- “Come on dear, sit here”. Yeah, she is learning to flatter too :)
- "Sign here, mommy'
- “Whas zat, up on the tree?”
- “Where did ze squirrel go?”
- “Zis is mommy agua”
- “Daddy is at work”
- “Finger hurt, I want bandaid”,
- or “Knee poupouma, I want abino” (abino = aveeno cream),
- or “Mommy itching, abino pease”. Mommy and daddy have not uncovered the origin of “poupouma” yet. Lana uses it when she has a mosquito bite, and or she is itching or hurt herself. It may be an old version of the Aveeno cream. It is still a mystery now.
- “Charlie cation” (vacation)
- “Caca in toilet, not diaper”.

She seems to have learned the power of “please”. If she asks for something and mommy doesn’t respond right away, she adds a very cute “pease” . Of course, this is working like magic on mommy :)

She can pronounce letters better. Her cute “I pound it!” became “I found it”. And “Awa” became “Agua”. Snif, mommy liked it better before :(

She can’t stand when her hands or feet are dirty. She says “deuty” and asks to be washed, or asks for a wipe.

Her counting skills passed the number 10 to reach thirteen. But she started to mix them.

She can list some of the days of the week. She starts with “Monday, Tuesday” and then it turns into some gibberish :)

She lists the colors “blue”, “red”, “green”, “yellow” and “orange”. But for some reasons, everything is blue for her :)
