When the phone rings, Lana jumps and started pointing to it. If mommy is in another room, she grabs the phone, and runs to mommy and gives it to her. She takes this matter very seriously, making sure the phone call is answered.
Today, daddy's beeper started beeping. He was in the shower. Lana informed mommy about the beeper, but mommy did not do anything about it. When daddy got out of the shower, Lana run to him, and showed him the beeper, with loud "ah ah ah" to inform him it was beeping.

Lana seems to have settled on a career ... for now
After she saw daddy getting many calls at night, and mommy working on the laptop all day, Lana decided she doesn't want mommy or daddy's jobs. She will pick a career of her own. She wants something where she travels a lot, and doesn't have to do much work (lazy Lanoussi). She got it! A job at the United Nations!
She immediately started preparing for it, working on her multi-language skills:
- Daw in arabic (for light)
- Tetine, Caca in french (for pacifier and poopoo)
- Eye, nose, teeth, more, mine, ball, dog, daycare, out, in, etc ...
- Awa for Agua in spanish (water)
- And the universal language: Aie, oh oh
As you can see, the emphasis is more on the english. She understood the politics of the UN, and who governs it :)
In the playground, she plays only with the older kids. She keeps following them every where. She sure is understanding more and more about politics...
And last but not least, she is blowing kisses for everybody. She got the whole concept!

Month 20: December 21 2010
Lana entered the "Mine" phase. Everything is "mine" now. Mommy was holding her keys, Charlie came in to take them, Lana shouted at him "Mine!".
She climbs on the couch, and pushes mommy away from daddy, saying "mine". Mommy is not sure if "mine" refers to the couch or daddy :)
Another phase is the "more" phase. Whenever she wants more of something, she signals it (she learned some sign language at daycare), and goes "moooooooo". It is very difficult to say no to her, when she gives this angelic look, putting her hands together for "more", and goes "moooooooooooo".
The trick to get her out of the bath tub by opening the saddeh to let water go stopped working a long time ago. When Lana sees us opening the saddeh, she closes it back. Yesterday, mommy opened the saddeh behind Lana's back. But Lana quickly noticed the level of water going down, she rushed into closing the saddeh again.
She goes to sleep pretty easily these days, without much fight. She plays "nose, eyes, teeth" a few times before sleeping. She likes teeth more than the other ones. Maybe because teeth is pronounced almost the same as tetith (= tetine in Lana's language).
She takes it very seriously to close the door after she leaves or enters a room.
She has a very pleasant personality. If she wants something that she can't have, she is determined to get it. She tries all ways. Once she finds out she can't have it no matter what, she doesn't insist anymore. She moves to something else.
She rarely gets cranky or has any tantrum, unless she is sleepy. The sign for mommy and daddy to know that she is ready to go to bed is when she starts screaming at everything, and gets easily frustrated. When not sleepy, she is the most pleasant person ever. Rarely complaining or fussing about anything. And she follows directions very well, almost doing everything we ask her to do.
In daycare, they say she has an outgoing personality. She likes to socialize.
Whenever she goes to a new place, she doesn't move much for the first 15-20 mins, looking around to explore the place, and study people around her. And then she becomes unstoppable.
Lana's greatest gift is her fine motor skills. Since her young age, she likes manual activity, and was evaluated to be very advanced in them. She could manipulate objects in her hands at a very early stage. And the activities and toys she likes best are related to the "travail manuel". She loves the sensory activities, painting, lego, etc ...
She could grab and hold very small objects between her thumb and finger when she was still a baby.
